Chick-fil-A to Launch Meal Kit Concept in Atlanta

Customers on Chick-fil-A's home turf will soon be able to test out the brand's new dining concept and get the taste of Chick-fil-A at home. "Mealtime Kits," as they are called, are the chicken eatery's new meal kit concept that lets customers make Chick-fil-A meals at home. The tasty idea that combines homemade food with fast food will launch at 150 Chick-fil-A restaurants across Atlanta beginning August 27.

According to a press release from the brand, busy Chick-fil-A customers will be able to pick up kits full of fresh, pre-measured ingredients for Chick-fil-A chef-inspired meals at either the drive-thru or the front counter of a Chick-fil-A restaurant. There are five different kit recipes, including Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Enchiladas, Dijon Chicken, Pan Roasted Chicken and Chicken Flatbread - so maybe not your usual order of a chicken sandwich and fries. Each recipe tells you how long it will take to make and offers easy step-by-step ingredients on how to cook your meal. All recipes include Chick-fil-A's chicken.

Each meal serves two people and has a "use-by" date, meaning you can refrigerate your Mealtime Kit for a couple of days. This comes in handy, as guests are able to order two meal kits at a time, each for $15.89.

"It's really interesting to see how this will play out for Chick-fil-A," Austin Wright, SVP, Strategy at Ansira told The Daily Meal. "If the meal kit proves to be a success for Chick-fil-A, we could see this being a regular thing for the QSR chain. However, Chick-fil-A will have to figure out how to adopt the delivery method with these meal kits. With brands such as Uber Eats and GrubHub delivering meals themselves, if Chick-fil-A can find their footing with delivering meal kits, then they'll be able to compete with those ordering companies."

Atlanta customers can try out these Mealtime Kits until November 17, and customers nationwide who want in on the creative meal idea can fill out this form to indicate their interest. With Blue Apron's launch of Bob's Burgers-themed meal kits and Chick-fil-A's latest endeavor, the meal kit craze is far from over, even though we totally predicted that it would be.
