Lower Merion High School Reviews

I am a student at LMHS and I am impressed with the flexible academic and extra-curricular life here. I find that any level of student will find a place at LM and will not be placed in any level class that is out of their comfort zone. There is also a large amount of extra-curricular activities that are suitable for anyone.

This is a fantastic district. We came from Brookline, Mass. six years ago and couldn't be happier--our kids, now in ninth and fifth grades, are having a much stronger academic experience...and they have loads of friends.

I am so disappointed in this school, I can hardly put it into words. When we moved from out of state, we paid a tremendous premium to live in this district because the school enjoys such a great reputation. When we were looking at the course catalog, my children and I were so excited by what was offered. But the reality has been sharply different. My children's schedule is filled with study halls because those exciting courses aren't really available to all. They sit idle half the day and then their courses aren't very challenging at all. The teachers are a mixed bag, as in any school, but considering the extremely high taxes we pay for teacher salaries, I don't see why so much mediocrity is accepted. If this is really one of the top schools in the state, Pa is in very, very sad trouble.

I am a student that goes to lower merion high school. I feel that the curriculum and the teachers do very well at their work. The extracurricular activities are really amazing. Meaning, that there is an extra curricular activity for all types of students. Whether it be sports, plays, cooking, art, community service, cheerleading/ drill team or technology. Anyone can find their place in school.

My daughter is graduating from LMHS this school year and I am very pleased with her education. LMHS has a rigrous education, honors and AP credits are numerous, music is state ranked both vocal and instrumental and their theater department is arguably one of the best in the country. The tennis team ranked first this year in the state, and the Basketball team was first in the state as well. Parents are actively involved. The community is down-to-earth and a child can succeed regardless of his/her social-economic status.

Lower Merion High School is recognized as outstanding by many, however its regard for its African American, Hispanic, low income and disabled students is disappointing to many, too. Check out the data for yourself. It reflects a truth of the 'culture' rarely mentioned in public.

Truly excellent school. Prepares students very well for college.

High quality of academic programs with honors, AP classes. Teaching varies greatly from great to mediocre. Class size in the 20s. Facilities are overcrowded and outdated, with new facility sometime in the future. Many extracurricular activities, including all sports, music, theatre.

This is an amazing school.

Lower Merion High School has the highest PSAT/SAT scores among public, non-magnet schools in Pennsylvania. The guidance staff and counselors are excellent

I am a graduate. LMHS provided a great education. My whole first year of college was basically a repeat of my senior year.
