Pierre S. Dupont Elementary School Reviews

I have a 6th grader and a 5th grader at this school. We haven't been happy with the school, let alone this district since we moved from Claymont area. The bullying that happens at the school is ridiculous..so much so that 2 kids (who are honor students and love school) don't want to go to school much of the time. Since we moved into this school's feeder pattern, my kids have started to become depressed and the school's response when I brought the bullying to their attention (on many occasions) is 'why didn't you come forward sooner'...imagine how that sounds to a 10 year old or a 12 year old. I am glad we rent until I am finished with college, because now we are looking at homes outside of this school district altogether. I don't recommend this school to anyone who cares for their kid's happiness or safety.

Teachers and staff have been very supportive. Academic bar could be higher. Generally a safe environment although a bit overwhelming for 4th grade students.

I belive that P.S. needs to step up when it comes to parent teacher commuincation...it just isn't there. What happened to the teacher writing notes, calling, sending a reminder that schools closed or test on Friday.

I have a sixth grader at PS and I would say we are very disappointed with the school. It lacks professionalism, leadership and most of all a caring staff. It seems that teachers and staff are there for a paycheck only and not for the children. They are more concerned with dress code than acamemics. Children are constantly yelled at and made to feel inferior. I have a child who should be entering PS in the fall and have chosen to choice her elsewhere. I personally would not let a child of mine attend this school.

I'm disappointed w/ the lack of professionalism in the staff. there's is too much attention to personal politics, a lack of communication between staff members, and a general lack of respect between staff members.
