Although he is growing up bombarded by the values set forth in popular culture, Friends School Haverford is a safe place where he is developing the strength of character he needs in order to make good choices. My child attended PK through 1st and was behind. He moved to the local public school where he is now one of the best readers and math students in his class. We worked hard to get him up to speed where FSH failed him. The school needs to focus on academics and less on other things. My son was able to become a nice and social child due to attending FSH but they feel short on learning. This school instead provides individual neglect and an administration that doesn't acknowledge that they are failing their students. They do produce students that excel at being 'good citizens' but the children leave Friends far behind their peers academically. My daughter entered Friends working at grade level in the first grade; when she left at the end of the fifth grad she was two grades behind in both math and reading. Even when we presented the school evidence in the form of test scores the school claimed our daughter was fine. The head of the school is merely a bureaucrat and doesn't take the time to address concerns.
