Castle Academy Reviews

I just re-enrolled my 2 children and I need to tell everyone that even with a tough economy I wouldn't put my children anywhere else. I can drop them off anytime after 5:30 am and pick them up late and I know they are safe. My one child is 3 grades above and my other child is right where they need to be with a lot of help. I would tell anyone to try it. It fits anyones needs.

Every school is not for every child. Castle Academy is an a remarkable place for children. I teach there and know for a fact that all the teachers have 4 year degrees and are state certified. We do have an art program, just not an after school art class. All the children receive art lessons 2 times weekly. I love teaching here and have loved it for many years. Again, every school is not for every parent. Come and see for yourself. You will really love it.

I can't tell you how great this school is! It is that and more. My family has been there for 9 plus years and every minute has been great. Ms. Maureen runs a tight ship and we love it!

I sent my son there for 2 years. He is ADHD and they did not have the patience, the teaching staff or the knowledge to work with him. Their best advice was to medicate him and as a punishment when he didnt behave send him back to the kindergarten teacher who could best work with his behavior. He is now in pubic school and his teacher doesn't believe the records from Castle are about the same child. The public school teachers are actually certified teachers (most as castle are not) and are trained to work and teach kids. My son is doing great is thriving and loves school. The principal at Castle actually told my son and I that he and his behavior were unacceptable and if it didn't change she would kick him out. Can you imagine having someone tell your child they are unacceptable?

Oh i sent my grand neice there quite some time ago when she was very young ,the school and day nursey is everything you read about it clean, personel helpful, muareen a taskmaster to her employee for our children, well we moved out of the area some five years ago and still all my neice can do is wish that she was back there

All I can say is that I am so happy I made the switch from my in-home daycare to Kids Castle. My daughter is in Miss Barbara s class (18-24month). I have noticed such a difference ever since my daughter has been there. I was told by Miss Barbara how she reads to them all day. Well, this is true because my daughter has shown a huge interest in reading and coloring ever since she started there, she wants to read book after book all night. I pick up my daughter at different times, she is always reading, or sitting in a circle listening to a story. She comes home everyday with new crafts or things she colored. Miss Barbara is an amazing teacher as well as all the other teachers I have encountered there. You will fall in love with the place the minute you walk in the door I did

I worked at Kid's Castle for a little over 3 weeks. During that short time span, I moved up from a teacher's aide, to a lead teacher. The transition, however, was horrible. I was placed in a room one morning with 9 children (2 children over ratio), and was told absoultely nothing about them, including their names! Nothing improved from that day on. I was in a classroom for close to 6 hours a day - not including playroom and outside time - with an upwards of 12 children a day. The only reason I would suggest letting your children is for the Teachers. They are wonderful.

My Son has been attending the school since preschool. Amazingly there has been no problems with the adminstration. The quality of education is superb! To relate this school to a public school is unfair. The classes are small (real small, compared to public schools), students get persanlized attention. My son is in a class of 7. Time spent on the subject is more then enough. My son is no angel and at times calls out in class. The treachers are expierenced and overcome that and help my son contoll his excitemnt. Mrs Maureen ( school adminstrator) is a drill seargent and I do not mean in a negative way. She cares about every student and knows each by thier name. The one area that needs inprovement is extracurricular activities. There is only chess and scrabble. No music, art, sports... I feel she should incorperate these activities.

My two sons have been going to the Kid's Castle for close to 2 years. I really like the daycare because it is an academic program. When I can, I pick my kids up at odd times to know what is going on. They watch a little more TV then I'd like. However, go look at other daycares and see how dirty they are. This daycare is spotless. I have loved all the teachers my boys have had and so have they. They have a great program called Tumble Books which is phenomenal at teaching pre-reading skills. The few times that I have had concerns they have been addressed immediately. I do not like being ignored or put off. It makes me happy to know that if I have a question/concern/suggestion it is resolved within 24 hours or less. I recommend this program.

What can I say about this school? It is the best. Forget the rest. I dropped my son off at Kids Kastle( the baby divison) over 7 years ago and now he is going into first grade! The summer program is wonderful, the kids go on trips 3 times a week. The trips are organized and fun and the teachers are loving and caring. Ms Maureen(the owner) is great and I could not ask for more. They are in a loving clean environment and even during the summer they are learning. Stop in and see for yourself. By the way, make no appointment as the school is always clean and ready for your inspection.

I have to say that the summer program is great...my kids do want to return but i do agree with the other parents review that they are always playing games, that for a summer program its great but for education purpose its not worth the money. My children attend catholic school and you cannot compare the education. I have to also say about the teachers that they are always in each others rooms chatting....and some are not friendly at all. My children have told me that some even yell, alot. but i do recommed for a summer program...the kids really do enjoy themselves.....i definityl would recommed the Nursey...ny 1 yr attends the nursey, its great...but some of the staff i think can be a litte more friendly......life is to short....smile a little......

I Love it! I Love it! The Camp is Great!!! The teachers are Great!!!! Ms. Maureen is Great!!!!!

My 3 children have been attending this school for years. I have yet to trust my kids to anyone else other then family. In fact, I feel like Ms. Maureen and other teachers at the school are family. While admittedly there is staff turnover at the school, the majority of the turnover occurs in the first few months of a person's employment and that's because Ms. Maureen expects a lot from her employees. As a parent, I understand and encourage that. Her employees are entrusted with caring for my children, I don't see where there is room for error. As far as Ms. Maureen 'ligtening up', would you send your kids to go to a school where the director has no idea what her employees are doing? As for fire drills, one time there was an actual fire in the daycare and the staff had the children out in 45 seconds.

All three of my children have attended Castle Academy and we could not be happier with heir experiences. Never any complaints about going to school because they love it. Kids Castle and Castle Acadmey have always been accommodating for our family. People who really care about kids. Would highly recommend.

My daughter has attended the daycare & the Pre-K school. The school has a great program. I feel that the teachers at the daycare have more children than they can handle, there were times I've picked up my daughter & the teacher had 16 children. UNEXCEPTABLE especially for the price we pay!. Now as far as the school, my daughter learned alot attending Pre-K. I absolutley loved her teacher sorry but can't leave her name... I hated the fact her teacher had to clear everything with Ms.Maureen.. The teacher spends the day with your child not Ms.Maureen, I feel that the teacher should be able to tell you everything that goes on with your child that day, not when Ms.Maureen clears it... I'm just glad that my district has full day kindergarden.... Ms.Maureen runs a great school, just some things she needs to LIGHTEN up on...

astle Academy is a wonderful school and we could not be happier. The special attention given to my daughter is phenominal. I feel confident and secure dropping her off there as well as I konw she is learning at her own level. I love the teachers as well as Miss Maureen. They are all doing a super job. I would highly reccomend it to any one seeking a higher education.

I feel the need to write on behalf of this superb private school. The Teachers are well qualified, the curriculum is designed to reach each child's needs and strengths. Teacher turnover is nearly non existant, all have been teaching more than 2 years and from what I can tell, most more than 6 years. I am completely satisfied with every aspect of the school. Hope this helps anyone that is interested to take a look at this rare gem.

My daughter has been at the school for 4 years and we just love it. I send her to Castle Academy to learn responsibility and I feel she gets it there. I am amazed every day how much help she gets and how much she learns. Visit the school for yourself, you will be thrilled at what they have to offer.

My daughter has gone her for 3 years and at first I really liked the school, but now I can't say the same. She is in the 8th grade and there are no extra curricular activities which I think middle school children need. The teachers coddle the kids so they do not learn how to be responsible for school work. They have a communication paper, which parents have to sign every day and if you do not sign it, your child gets a zero for the day, which I have no words for. The hours of the school are great, they are closed 6 days out of the year and will give your child extra help if needed. I can't wait for her to graduate. You have to see the school for yourself.

I have been a parent at Castle Academy for the past few years and I just love the teachers and the devotion and attention they give. I tried public school but the attention, skills, and information my kids get here is so much better. I couldn't ask for a better, safer place for my kids to be!

My son has been at Castle Academy for five years and in the beginning it was great. But after being here you start to see the problems. The children spend entirely too much time playing video games and watching movies. The turn over rate for teachers is horrible. You can't talk to your child's teacher without them first clearing it with Miss Maureen. It also seems as if all of the minority children are in support programs which I believe gives these children a complex, and I'm not a teacher but I don't think that all of these children need 'support'. There are not extracurricular activities. I pay for my child to learn, not to sit in front of a television or play games half of the day.

This is one choice that my husband and I made that we have never second guessed ourselves about. The personnel have made all of the difference in our son. In other places, his specific needs were either ignored or he was rejected because of them. His teachers have been patient and Maureen has worked closely with us to get our son the help he needs. Thank God for this school and sending Maureen and her staff to our family.

Well, you can say what you want but we love the school. The class size at 12 or less, the student teacher ratio is 1/6 with all the extra teachers and the attention to detail is amazing. The children are taught on thier level and moved if needed. My children have been in the schools for 7 years and we are thrilled that they will be able to attend until they leave for college. As a mother that comes in at all times of the day I am relieved to know that what you are told is going to happen during the day really does. The school is open for most holidays helping parents that do not have the school days off from work. Thank You Castle Academy for making a difference in our family. Thank You for giving our children a great education.

I enrolled my son because I wanted him to be more independent, since the public school system was mandating an aide. He is very bright, but has some special needs (focusing). I assumed he would get the attention he needed in a kindergarden class of 10 students. It was frustrating that his teacher would 'take away stars' instead of having the kids earn them. I'm a teacher and ALL research shows punishment never works as a motivator. It was also frustrating not being able to communicate with the teacher since teachers cannot speak to parents or send notes home without clearing it through Ms. Maureen, the principal. The support staff is very attentive, and if my son had a caring, organized teacher, he may still be at Castle Academy.

The overall educational/emotional/social support provided by Castle is first rate. Each student is embraced daily and the tera nova test scores show Castle's approach works. I am hopefull that the school will expand to the 12th grade and bring additional extracurricular activities. However considering the annual cost compared to schools that provide the extracurricular activities- no One does it better. Pre-School and post school activities mirror those available at my house and allows working parents the opportunity to know children are in the safety net of the Castle Academy.Ms. Maureen combines traditional values with a can do attitude and plently of enthusiasm. Go look at Chesterbrook Academy and then Castle Academy like I did. The choice is clear....Sherriea & Sydny

Small classroom sizes, great teachers, convenient for working parents, academic quality and personal attention are first-rate. The school is kept so clean. You'll see this when you compare the cleanliness and price of other schools. Love it!

While there are small class sizes, this school has a terrible teacher turn-over rate (and I mean during the school-year, not year-to-year). Also, students spend too much time playing video games/game boys during the school day. If you want to see this for yourself, show up around 2:45-3:00 on a Friday (school ends at 3:25). There is too much movie time, students watch movies from whenever they are dropped off until 8:10, then again at lunch time for 30-45 minutes (every day). Then, if they stay after school, again at 5pm. Ultimately, some people love this school and some people hate it, but very few are in the middle. Meet the owner and then go with your gut reaction. If you love her attitude, you'll probably be happy with the school. If you have some doubts, find another school. Oh, and ask about the fire drills. They don't have them.

The benefits of this school are the small class sizes. Students get more one on one attention. The drawbacks are that specials (Spanish, music..) are frequently cancelled, and students spend a lot of time watching movies during the school day.

Academic quality and personal attention are first-rate. Teacher-student ratio is low, maximum 12 kids to a class. I think teacher turnover is high but many entry-level teachers get experience here before moving on to higher-paying public school jobs with better hours and benefits. There is a solid core group of teachers who have been here from the beginning, though. There are no extra-curricular activities which is a big drawback as you get into the higher grades. Before and after school hours are generous and included in tuition. The school has few holidays which is great for working parents.

This is a great school for parents who work. The private school extended day goes from 5:30 am until 6:30 pm. There are no extracurricular activites available, but the students go on lots of trips.

Castle Academy is a wonderful school. The customized learning they provide is amazing and hard to find. Try finding a school director who knows every child and parent by name, and can tell you what kind of day each child has had. There is no comparison! If you want to know that your child is in the most capable hands, you will want to know that they are at Castle Academy. Trust me as a mother of a student, as a sister of two students, and as a former employee who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Castle Academy is the school that puts all others to shame.
