Atlantic Grill: Pizza, ice cream and water ice in Stratford
This main street restaurant sits in the former location of a refurbished Friendly’s Restaurant. The restaurant has a sock-hop theme—cute but not overwhelming. Located on White Horse Pike in Stratford, this is an ideal stop for those heading to Atlantic City from Philadelphia.
The main dining area offers seating in booths, at tables or at a bar-type area. Patrons just visiting for ice cream can stop at the window on the side of the building. There is also outdoor seating available for those who purchase ice cream and water ice. The handicap parking is located directly in front of the ice cream window and the building’s main entrance. The restaurant also contains no stairs, making this a wheelchair-accessible environment.
The portions at Atlantic Grill are generous. Even appetizer portions are certainly meant to be shared. Many guests find that appetizer portions may constitute a full meal, especially during lunch. The mozzarella sticks are particularly tasty appetizer items. Served hot, they’re not too greasy or salty and the cheese remains fluid rather than rubbery in texture.
While the Atlantic Grill offers standard American fare such as burgers and chicken, consider ordering pizza. The grill serves pizza by the slice, as a full pizza pie or as a customized personal pizza. Individual slices are considerably larger than those at chain pizza restaurants, and personal pizzas are as large as medium pizzas found at most chains.
The Atlantic Grill’s kitchen staff are also especially compliant with special requests, making this restaurant a good choice for vegetarians, kids, picky eaters and those who love their pizza a certain way.
Be sure to ask about current specials for dine-in and take-out; they typically run a lunch special on two slices of pizza plus a soda. Atlantic Grill offers a decent value for the amount of high-quality food served.
HelloMetro Tip: Both the restaurant and ice cream window offer a variety of desserts, including soft serve, gelati, water ice, hard ice cream, shakes, funnel cake and hot waffles topped with ice cream. If you’re looking to get into the "shore mood," stop by for dessert!
